Knowledge of Risk Factors is Not Enough

Heart Disease & Stroke
Heart disease and stroke under the combined heading of Cardiovascular Disease are the biggest cause of premature death in the UK. But now, thanks to a simple painless ultrasound test called CIMT measurement, it is possible to show measurable changes to the lining of the arteries – changes that mean a heart attack or stroke are a more likely future event. With this information, your doctor can recommend an effective preventative treatment plan that is appropriate for your
circumstances. The CIMT measurement will be provided as part of the carotid assessment examination.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
A simple and painless ultrasound examination visualises the abdominal aorta allowing measurements to taken. The results of the measurements will determine if the aorta is either normal in size or enlarged. If all is normal a recommendation to be examined again will be made, the timeframe dependant on your age. If the aorta is enlarged, your report will provide information for you and your doctor on the recommended follow up dependant on the increased aorta measurement. Early detection could save your life.

Ultrasound screening can detect problems very early
In fact, we can see possible problems in their earliest stages even before any symptoms are present. Our simple screening tests will determine the likelihood of potential heart and related diseases developing later on. Early detection makes an enormous, positive difference to your future prospects for good health.
